Department of Pediatric Surgery

About us

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Osaka Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the largest pediatric surgery program in Osaka prefecture, with more than 500 surgeries including 50 neonatal surgeries performed annually. From common procedures like appendectomies and hernia repairs to more complex repairs of congenital anomalies, specialized oncologic surgery and surgery for emergency diseases, board-certified pediatric surgeons at the Osaka Women’s and Children’s Hospital provide surgical care for a broad range of conditions affecting infants and children. Pediatric surgeons specialize in abdominal and thoracic surgery as well as many conditions of the body trunk. We remove tumors and correct congenital anomalies, often operating on neonates weighing less than 500 gram.

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Osaka Women’s and Children’s Hospital is an Accredited Pediatric Surgery Institution verified by the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons. The Department of Pediatric Surgery participates in National Clinical Database for Pediatric Surgery.
